Ruby Mayfield, ‘saxophone matriarch,’ beloved friend and journalist, dies

Asheville is mourning the loss of a treasured saxophone player and journalist, known for her compassion, generosity, courageous authenticity and unmatched musical talent. Ruby Mayfield, 66, died Thursday, April 1.
