Today at the Arboretum, I watch a black rat snake lounge on slender branches in its vivarium, a tall acrylic box with quarter-inch ventilation holes. Its head floats in slow motion, spitting a forked tongue left to right as it slides down the branch....

I think art of any kind has to do with finding one’s way home, that is, back to oneself perhaps for the first time. Art often helps connect heart and mind, to find the story one is searching for.
