INTERNATIONAL AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSEUM With Opening Day on the horizon…

Because of you, the IAAM will be an institution of learning, a place where people can freely and critically engage with our exhibitions to challenge the existing narratives of history.

Whenever a visitor says, “I had no idea; I need to learn more,” you can take heart in knowing you made that moment possible.

Whenever our Center for Family History helps someone find new connections to their ancestry and story, your support will play a role in that life-changing discovery and so many others.

And at the end of visitors’ time in the IAAM, when they have taken in an encyclopedic new telling of this history, they will see that this journey continues today and that each of us has a part to play in building a more perfect union … for all of us.

After more than 20 years of hard work and collaboration, we’re on the precipice of the most important chapter of our mission: when the IAAM welcomes visitors as the nation’s newest home for African American history and culture.

Thanks to your support, the outside of our building is complete, and Gadsden’s Wharf — one of the country’s most prolific slave-trading ports in U.S. history — has been reclaimed as home to a stunning facility that offers a breathtaking look upon Atlantic waters. But there’s still a lot of work ahead, which is why I’m reaching out to the most committed Charter Members to personally ask you to reaffirm your support for the IAAM.
