Women’s History Month feels more serious than usual…

That’s a good thing.

“I wonder who’ll celebrate, or even acknowledge, Women’s History Month this year,” writes on Bama Athreya Medium. Perhaps you feel similarly; I certainly do.

There is a lot of dark and dismal news out there about the state of women’s rights, and it just keeps coming: reproductive health access questioned, women/gender studies programs gutted, the legal foundation of equal opportunity access rescinded.

This matches the mood of Women’s History Month this year: muted. Gone are the days where all logos featured punchy feminine filters during the month of March, where every brand adopted an undercurrent of “girl power.” Now, I can’t even remember the last time I saw a “The future is female” T-shirt.
